More calories will not fix global malnutrition

Verden forsøgt forklaret - grafik

Laura Vang Rasmussen on rethinking the future of food production.

The world is producing more calories than ever, yet one in three people worldwide lacks essential nutrients. Expanding farmland often means clearing forests, reducing access to diverse, nutrient-rich foods.

Laura Vang Rasmussen, Associate Professor at the Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management (IGN) at the University of Copenhagen and Co-Principal Investigator in TreeSense, explores how trees can improve life on farms.

”We have now solid scientific evidence that integrating trees on farms is not only beneficial for the environment – it is also beneficial for people’s food security and wellbeing,” she said.

Learn more about her research in the podcast Verden forsøgt forklaret (The World Explained – An Attempt), recorded in front of a live audience at the University Library in Copenhagen.
